Isle of Man ๐ฎ๐ฒ ARDIS Registry โ
| Name | im-ardis-registry |
| Country | Isle of Man |
| Registration prefix | M- |
| Data source | https://ardis.iomaircraftregistry.com/register/search |
| Format | HTML table (POSTed search form with CSRF token) |
| Run frequency | Weekly (Thursday, 07:10 UTC) |
| Depends on Mictronics for ICAO hex | No โ this runner supplies its own ICAO hex directly from the register's "Mode S Number" column, so no RediSearch lookup against Mictronics is needed. |
How it works โ
The ARDIS (Aircraft Registry Data Information System) search page is first GET'd to extract a __RequestVerificationToken, then a full-register search is POSTed with that token and a fixed set of "match any" filter parameters requesting up to 50,000 results. The resulting HTML results table is parsed with BeautifulSoup; header cells contain a redundant sort-link label (e.g. "Sort column by Registration MarkRegistration Mark"), which a backreference regex strips down to just the column name so it can be used as a dict key per row. Rows whose Aircraft Status is Deregistered are filtered out, and any row missing a Mode S Number or registration mark is skipped. This registry is business-jet-heavy, which is reflected in the example output below. Every written record explicitly sets military: false โ this register is exclusively civil, and the explicit value ensures a stale military: true flag (from Mictronics or a prior record on a reused hex) is corrected on re-registration.
Deduced ICAO type designator โ
ARDIS never publishes an ICAO type designator โ only a raw manufacturer/model string. This runner deduces one for hexes Mictronics has no entry for by consensus: hexes Mictronics does already label become training data, grouped by normalized (manufacturer, model); a group's majority Mictronics designator is applied to that group's other, unlabelled hexes when the group has at least 3 labelled examples and at least 90% agreement, otherwise the gap is left as-is. A deduced designator also gets its matching description_code, resolved from the aircraft:type:{designator} reference Redis already carries. See shared/type_designator_consensus.py and issue #1888 for the method and its measured precision/coverage.
Columns โ
| Source column | Imported | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Aircraft Status | โ | Used only to filter out Deregistered rows; not stored |
| Mode S Number | โ | โ icao_hex (uppercased); this runner's own ICAO hex source |
| Registration Mark | โ | โ registration |
| Aircraft Manufacturer | โ | โ aircraft.manufacturer |
| Aircraft Type | โ | โ aircraft.model |
| Serial Number | โ | โ aircraft.serial_number |
| Registered Owners | โ | Split on first comma into registrant.names[0] (name) and registrant.street[0] (remainder); stored as names[0] only if no comma present |
See specs/data-dictionary.yaml (im-ardis-registry entry) for full column semantics and cross-source schema notes.
Example Output โ
Read back the merged record for a given ICAO hex (combines this runner's data with Mictronics and any other sources that have written to the same key):

See Data Runners for the full list of environment variables every runner reads. This runner writes aircraft:registry:{icao_hex} with a fixed 14-day TTL (ENRICHMENT_TTL_SECONDS in shared/timing.py).
MQTT โ
